Echoes In The Canyons

Wondering through a dry and barren wasteland

far from the dreams I had planned

steep walls of doubt all around me

reminding me I’m just a man

but I know a mountain top is waiting

if I don’t listen to the enemy

shouting that I’ll never make it

echoing doubts of unbelief

Like echoes in the canyons

failures seem so vast

looking back upon them

as I think about my past

I do not know the future

as my destiny unfolds

so I’ll trust the Lord to guide me

and let these echoes go

 

It’s not my first time in the valley

and quite often I’ve put myself here

mountains can seem so much higher

when looking up from the wrong end

I’m not going to dwell on old history

like an echo that lives in the past

I’m looking ahead to the future

when I’ll be on the mountain at last
